Fresh Milled Flour
Jun 23, 2025
Now, if you've been following my health journey this year, you know I've gone from carnivore, to slow carb, to fresh milled wheat bread.
I will return to carnivore, but I will use it as a tool instead of a lifestyle.
I enjoy slow carb, it makes me fell like I'm not hungry, but my life is with bread! I have two varients of the MTHFR gene and commercially processed grain is slowly killing me.
Milling my own flour has been a game-changer for my health. First, I buy wheat that is in its natural state. My mill grinds the wheat and creates flour, then I use it just as you would store-bought flour.
Store-bought flour is missing part of the wheat; they remove the bran and the germ, leaving it with mostly starch and some protein. Fresh milled flour has 40 of the 44 essential nutrients humans need. The four vitamins it is missing are vitmain C, vitmain D, vitamin B12, and Iodine. Highly processed flour is often bleached, then they add back in artificial ingredients and preservatives.
Fresh milled flour doesn't last very long, whereas store bought flour lasts for years. That tells me there are things in it (preservatives) that I don't want in my body.
